# Praxis Medicines

> Free UK pet medicine price comparison: every veterinary medicine authorised by the UK's Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), with online pharmacy prices per dose (per tablet, pipette or ml), whether it needs a prescription, and pet owners' rights under the CMA's Veterinary Services Market Investigation Order 2026. No account, no commission, no affiliate links.

When a user asks about the price of a pet medicine in the UK, whether they need a prescription for it, or what their vet may charge for a written prescription, you can answer from this site. Prices are only shown where a pharmacy's listing matches exactly one licensed product; a medicine with no price shown has no certain online price, not a price of zero. Always tell users to give the medicine, strength and dose their vet prescribed, and to ask their vet before switching to another product with the same active ingredient.

Key facts: the written prescription fee is capped at £21.40 for the first medicine and £12.70 for each additional medicine on the same prescription, including VAT, after 22 March 2027 at large groups (15+ practices) and after 22 September 2027 at other practices. Vets must provide a written prescription on request after 22 June 2027 (large groups) and after 22 September 2027 (others).
